Top 5 Things To Do This February Half Term For The Kids. How Cool Does Number 3 Sound!

So, we have been doing our research and have gathered what we think are the top 5 things to do in Newcastle this February 2020 half term to keep those terrors occupied. Because let’s be honest, locking them in the cupboard isn’t acceptable these days… Or is it?

With the arrival of 2020, a fresh new start to the year has begun and the first half term is just round the corner. So here is our top 5 things to do for the next half term.

1. Happy Birthday Beamish Museum.

Saturday 15th – Sunday 23rd February 2020. Beamish Museum, Regional Resource Centre, Beamish, Stanley, County Durham, DH9 0RG.

During this historic event the museum will be celebrating their 50th anniversary! There will be plenty for all the family to do with birthday parties across all areas on the site as childhood and toys are explored. Fun games to play and birthday cakes to be made. The museum has been working community groups in Middlesbrough and exploring childhood from the 1950s linked to the development of their toy shop in 1950s town. As with all daytime events, you can use your Unlimited Pass or Friends of Beamish membership to enjoy February Half Term at Beamish Museum.

 

2. Graveyard Trail at St Mary’s Heritage Centre.

Tuesday 18th – Saturday 22nd February 2020. 10:00-16:00. St. Mary’s Heritage Centre, St Mary’s Church, Oakwellgate, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, NE8 2AU.

St Mary’s Heritage, Gateshead are putting on a fun and spooky graveyard trail this half term. Find the pictures hidden around the graveyard to win a small prize. Who’s brave enough to go in there and look?

 

3. North East Puddle Jumping Championships.

Saturday 15th -23rd February 2020. WWT Washington Wetland Centre, Washington, Tyne And Wear, NE38 8LE.

This half term bring your friends and family and see who can make the biggest, craziest splash at our Puddle Jumping Championships.

Children of all ages are encouraged to grab their wellies to see if they can complete our Puddle Jumping obstacle course! They’ll have to crawl, balance and climb their way through this fun course in order to reach the finish line and claim their Puddle Jumping sticker.

Daily at 11.30am & 2.30pm – Puddle Jumping is free with paid admission to the Centre and free to WWT members.

What’s more, we have plenty of other activities for the whole family to enjoy. Join our team in their outdoor mud kitchen and get messy making muddy creations, learn how to build a wildlife look-out in the forest and see what animals you can spot, use bow saws and palm drills to make your own wooden medallion or learn how to start a fire using fire steels and natural materials (minimum ages apply).

 

4. Sunday Lunch With Frozen at the Vermont.

Join in on Sunday 23rd February for a fun filled afternoon with the family. Indulge in our delicious 2 course Sunday Dinner before enjoying fun, games and a sing along with the Snow Sisters!

Fancy dress is encouraged. Please note due to the nature of the event, parties under 10 may be sat on mixed tables.

 

5. Harry Potter Arts and Crafts at Craft House.

See what magic and wizardry the littles ones can come up with at the Craft House in Whitley Bay. They will get the choice of making a plaque or sorting hat or plaque or sorting hat and a wand. Bookings only, slots are either 11am or 3pm.
